1. Summary
- jokeslip has no accounts and no logins.
- We do not handle your card details. Payment is processed by Polar.
- We do not use cookies for tracking, and we show no cookie banner because we do not need one.
- If you scan someone's jokeslip card, we do not collect anything that identifies you.
2. Who is responsible
The data controller is Jung Yunyoung (정윤영), an individual based in the Republic of Korea.
Contact: [email protected]
Polar acts as Merchant of Record for purchases and is a separate controller for the payment data it collects. Polar's own privacy policy applies to that processing.
3. If you buy a card
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Email address (collected by Polar at checkout, shared with us) | To send you your card and let you recover it later; to identify repeat purchases | While your card remains available (at least 1 year) |
| Order identifiers and amount | To fulfil the order, handle refunds and disputes | As required by tax and accounting law |
| The text you wrote on your card | It is part of the product and is published on your card's page | For the life of the card |
| Automated moderation result for that text | To handle disputes and abuse reports | 1 year |
We never receive or store your card number. Payment details go to Polar and its payment processors.
4. If you scan someone's card
This is the important part, because you did not choose to visit us — someone gave you a card.
We do not collect personal data from you.
- No cookies, no local storage, no advertising or analytics trackers.
- No IP address stored. No device or browser fingerprint stored.
- We keep only an anonymous daily count of how many times each card was opened. This count cannot be linked to you.
The person who gave you the card can see that number. They cannot see who you are, where you were, or what device you used — because we never collect it.
5. Email we send you
We send one transactional email per purchase, containing your card, your link, and your receipt reference. We do not send marketing email, and we do not sell or share your address.
Polar separately sends its own payment receipt as Merchant of Record.
6. Who we share data with
Only the service providers we need to run jokeslip:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Polar | Merchant of Record, payment processing, checkout |
| Resend (resend.com) | Sending your purchase email |
| Cloudflare | Hosting your card page and images |
| Vercel | Hosting the storefront |
We do not sell personal data. We do not share it for advertising.
7. International transfers
Our providers operate globally, so data may be processed outside your country, including outside the EEA and outside Korea. We rely on the safeguards offered by those providers, including standard contractual clauses where applicable.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, to receive a copy of it, and to complain to a supervisory authority.
Because we hold very little — essentially an email address and your order — most requests are simple. Contact us at [email protected].
If you are in Korea, you have the corresponding rights under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), including the right to request access, correction, deletion, and suspension of processing.
9. Deleting a card
You can ask us to delete a card you purchased. We will disable the link and remove your text.
Note that this is permanent: if you have already given the card to someone, their copy will stop working.
10. Reporting a card
Every card page has a report link. If you report a card, we keep the report and the reported card's content for as long as needed to act on it and to handle any follow-up.
11. Children
jokeslip is not directed at children. Purchases require you to be 18 or the age of majority where you live. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
12. Changes
We will post changes here with a new effective date.
